SPIRIT AND ART
"An odyssey in Swedish choral music"
Musical Quarter
Nybrokajen 11
Sunday, March 9 at 3 p.m.
This year, the Musical Quarter turns 150! In 1875, Oscar II laid the foundation stone for Sweden's first concert hall, a place where Swedish music history flourished. As a student at the old "ackis", choir singing was mandatory. This is where Eric Ericson, one of Sweden's greatest choir figures, trained.
Mikaeli Chamber Choir, under the direction of Anders Eby, is proud to be part of the anniversary and invites you to a concert filled with Swedish choral history. With us we have soprano Alva Olsson and pianist Michael Engström.
It will be a journey through Swedish choral history - from August Söderman, Andreas Hallén and Valborg Aulin to Gösta Nystroem, Sven-Erik Bäck and Lars-Erik Rosell.
Ingvar Lidholm's "a riveder le stelle..." forms a powerful ending.
And of course Wilhelm Stenhammar is not missing!
